Moderation Management™ is a nonprofit that provides a non-judgmental, compassionate peer-support community for anyone who wants to change their relationship with alcohol.

We envision a world where anyone who wants to change their relationship with alcohol has access to a variety of resources and programs that are free, accessible, and endorse research-based guidelines.

  • Free

Our programs are free to anyone who desires to change their relationship with alcohol. To keep our programs available to all who seek support, regardless of financial status, we depend on donations from our members. A small number of our programs request a participation fee, however fees are not required to participate. Please contact us for guidance in how to access these programs for free.

  • Accessible

We offer online support 24/7 via our virtual meetings and online communities. Our online communities allow members to participate from all over the world, and our diverse meetings allow participants to find comfort among peers within their own, unique demographics.

  • Flexible

Our members are free to choose their own path towards developing a more balanced lifestyle, and we offer support but do not dictate behavior.

  • Non-Judgemental

Compassion for ourselves and others is paramount to our mission. Our safe and confidential meetings and online communities are non-judgmental and empathetic.

Meet Our Executive Team

Emily Sheridan

Growth Marketing Director

Emily brings over 15 years of experience in marketing and creative operations, with a focus on helping teams communicate more clearly and work more effectively. Her background spans brand strategy, campaign planning, and the development of systems that support consistent, thoughtful execution.

At Moderation Management, Emily focuses on ensuring the organization's presence reflects what it stands for. She supports messaging, streamlines processes, and helps create a more cohesive experience across programs and communications. Her approach is practical and people-first, centered on clarity, accessibility, and making things easier to engage with.

She’s especially drawn to MM’s commitment to meeting people where they are. That belief shows up in her work through straightforward communication and a focus on reducing friction, so more people can access support in a way that feels right for them.

Emily is based in Tucson, Arizona.

Andrea Pain

Andrea Pain

Executive Director

With a 30-year career in financial technology services, Andrea built her professional career around developing strong client relationships, strategic growth, and meaningful connection.

After joining Moderation Management as a member in 2019, she quickly realized she wanted to play a larger role in expanding awareness of MM’s mission and impact. What began as volunteer involvement evolved into several leadership roles, culminating in her appointment as Executive Director in 2024.

Andrea is deeply committed to ensuring that more people know there are multiple pathways to change and that support can meet people where they are.

Outside of work, she is the proud mom of two amazing adult sons and two beloved canine companions. She enjoys horseback riding, singing, and will take any opportunity to travel—anywhere, anytime.
Andrea is based in Burlington, Ontario.

Madeleine Zimmerman

MSW, LCSW, Clinical Director (she, her)

Madeleine is a harm reduction clinician and CRAFT-trained therapist licensed in California, Colorado, Oklahoma, and Wisconsin, with 9+ years of experience across community-based and clinical settings.
Madeleine came to MM with a clear sense of purpose: to grow the harm reduction provider community and ensure that clinicians across every specialty and setting have meaningful, moderation-friendly resources to offer their clients — not just the ones that have always existed.

Through Madeleine’s private practice, Kinship Care & Therapy, she works directly with individuals navigating alcohol and substance use, anxiety, trauma, and family systems — keeping her closely connected to the realities MM providers and members navigate every day.

Madeleine believes a harm reduction lens has value in every space, and she's passionate about making that case to providers and expanding what's possible for the people they serve.

Madeleine is based in Denver, CO.
